Family Camping Checklist

Above:Make sure you have everything you need for your next adventure!

Taking a family camping trip is one of the best ways to enjoy the great outdoors and scenery of Queensland. However, it can take a lot of planning and preparation to ensure that your trip goes off without a hitch.

To assist with planning your getaway, here is a list of the item’s that you’ll need to bring;

Clothes for all occasions –  including something warm/cool to sleep in and rainwear. Sometimes washing facilities are hard to come by when you are out camping so it is important to pack enough clothes to last for a large chunk of the journey. Also with the current La Nina weather patterns we are experiencing, it is important to factor in clothes for rainy and colder days as they are very unpredictable and can sneak up on you.

Toilet paper – keep a ready supply. This is an obvious but important one! no one wants to be stuck in a predicament without the loo paper.

Wet wipes – because they come in handy in a whole range of situations, especially when camping with kids! grubby fingers when camping is inevitable but if you are prepared with wet wipes and some hand sanitiser you will definitely thank yourself!

Medicine – if you take medicine regularly make sure you have enough with you for the trip. This is particularly important if you are camping off the beaten track as access to chemists or medical professionals will be harder to come by and could take hours of travel to find.

Toiletries – shampoo, conditioner, body wash, soap, sunscreen, toothpaste and toothbrush! camping can get messy but with these few simple items, you can rest assured you will be feeling fresh for your entire journey.

Torch – always comes in handy when camping. These are vital when you are camping to not only provide light but also minimise the use of electricity as our vans are only set up with 12 volts of electricity. For added convenience, we recommend a head torch so you can keep your hands free for activities like playing frisbee or cooking a bbq.

Towels – for the camper, the pool and the beach. A summer holiday is not complete without a towel for the beach or pool and if you have room, a beach chair, umbrella or any aquatic toys will always add a little comfort and entertainment to your next day at the beach.

Linen – unless organized with your booking, you will need bed sheets, pillows, blankets. If you have any questions about the linen that can be purchased as an extra product on your next hire, please send an enquiry form through our contact page.

Phone chargers – they are easy to forget and tricky and expensive to buy if you forget them. Also remember to bring chargers for your other electrical items like tablets, shavers, iPods, etc.

** Reminder – our campers are set up for 12 volts only unless you are booked in on a powered site

Food! – unless you are going somewhere really remote you will be able to buy most of your food at your location. It is still a good idea to bring some with you though, particularly the essentials. So when you create your food shopping list for your next adventure think of food that will last the distance. Rice, bread, packet tortillas, nuts/seeds, pack chips, dried fruit etc.

Thongs –  Because we are in Australia, these will definitely come in handy! whether you are chucking them on to wander down to the beach or perhaps you will want them while you use the caravan park amenities. You will definitely not regret packing these when you get away on a holiday with CampGC.
